NATURE'S APPETITE SUPPRESSANT......is humble H20! A glass of water contains no calories, no fat or cholesterol. Not only will it help you maintain a "full feeling" while dieting, it will help dissolve fat deposits at the same time.

So if you want to beat bloating: hydrate! Remember, about 30% of our water comes from the food we eat. Hence when we eat less (dieting) we need to drink more to make up the difference. Otherwise the kidneys don't get enough water to function properly and the liver must assume some of their work. This lowers the liver's ability to metabolize body fat and hence, the end result is weight (fat) gain ... and we thought drinking water would bloat us!
In addition to kidney function and fat metabolism water also plays an important role in metabolism, digestion, joint tissues, muscles, (back pain!) headaches, fatigue, depression, morning sickness, and clear skin among other things! So, how much water should we be drinking? A basic rule-of-thumb is 1/2 fluid oz per lb. body weight per day. E.g.: A 192 lb man would drink about (96 oz) 3 quarts per day.
3 Concepts that make Nu-Living your optimal weight management choice:
Physician-Assistance:
Books and tapes may help, but they cannot listen, observe, test, diagnose ... When it comes to your health and physical condition, however, a physician - especially a Bariatrician - is uniquely qualified to diagnose your condition and prescribe effective treatment.Multi-Modal Approach:
The causes leading to obesity are many and complex, which indicates a therapeutic response in multiple areas, including nutrition, exercise, education, behavior and pharmacology.Individualized Treatment:
Each patient presents a unique combination of medical, behavioral, environmental and genetic factors. That's why Nu-Living begins with a comprehensive assessment, then tailors an effective mix of treatment modalities based on that assessment - to acheive long-term results.Simple solutions rarely provide lasting results, especially when the issues are as subtle yet complex as those of Obese and overweight patients in America. Fortunately, proven treatment is available: physician assessment, guidance, and wide ranging therapies designed to give you a solid foundation for long-term weight control.
Our Recipe for Success
Health experts agree that the best approach for successful weight loss and weight maintenance is one that promotes permanent changes in diet, exercise habits, and mental attitudes and behaviors. Nu-Living Weight Management provides a comprehensive, yet simple treatment program which contains all the key components for effective weight management:
- Nutritious meal plans, including Advanced Health Systems nutritional food products.
- Food For Thought: A Guide for Nutrition Education.
- Body Basics: A Guide to Exercise.
- Life Steps: A Guide to Behavior Education.
- Healthy Living: A Guide to Long-Term Weight Management.
The objective of the Nu-Living Weight Management program is to help patients learn and apply key behaviors associated with successful long-term weight maintenance. These include healthy eating, daily activity, regular exercise, behavior modification, relapse management and coping skills.
Medically Based, Physician-Assisted Treatment
Fad diets are ok for slimming down for the summer, or perhaps "recovering" from an indulgent holiday season. However when overweight and obesity - especially in combination with advancing age - place one's health at risk, then the problem demands carefully considered action. The stakes are simply too high for gambling, experimentation, or second-best.
As the issues become clear, so will the options: a physician supervised, medical approach providing multifaceted treatment options will increase your chances of lasting results. The Nu-Living Program overlooks no proven methodology, combining education, nutrition, exercise, behavioral and lifestyle changes, medication and even the consideration of surgical intervention where warranted. No "packaged" solution for weight loss can offer this level of individualized care.
