CV Profiler: finally, a simple, non-invasive test for cardiovascular health risks
Hardened arteries cause heart attacks and strokes. Are your arteries hardened?
Cardiovascular disease is the greatest cause of death and disability in the US - resulting in more deaths than the next 7 highest causes combined.
Cardiovascular disease begins to compromise the heart and circulatory system decades before symptoms appear, so it’s highly important not to wait for symptoms to appear before seeking advice from a physician. Cardiovascular disease has a genetic precursors, and places both men and women at risk.
Who is at Risk for Cardiovascular Disease?
If you are between the ages of 15 and 55, have a family history of cardiovascular disease, or diabetes, and/or you have risk factors for cardiovascular disease (smoking, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, lack of regular exercise) it is highly important that you assess your cardiovascular health as soon as possible. Research has shown that cardiovascular disease occurs at all ages in both men and women, therefore premature stiffening of your arteries may be an important indication to your physician that you have underlying cardiovascular disease.
What to Expect During the CVProfilor Test
The CVProfilor test is similar to a blood pressure test, with a special acoustic sensor placed on your right wrist. Simple, and non-invasive; (no needles!) the test requires 5 minutes of your time in Dr. Terlinsky’s office.
What the CVProfiler Tells Dr. Terlinsky About Your Health
The report generated by the test provides new information about your vascular health. The lower your elasticity indices, the more risk you have for potential underlying cvd. Dr. Terlinsky will review your results with you, and if appropriate, develop a risk-reduction treatment plan to improve the elasticity of your arteries and your general health. This might include a low-fat diet, increased exercise, quitting smoking, decreasing alcohol consumption, losing weight, and possibly medication.
Major benefits: A disease-prevention plan can stop and possibly reverse the progressive stiffening of arteries that often precedes heart attack and strokes.
Will medical insurance pay for my CVProfile?
Most medical insurance plans cover all or part of the CVProfilor test.

How does Ultra Lite work?
Often when people embark on a weight loss plan they focus on cutting calories. While this will lead to weight loss, it may not provide enough protein to maintain muscle. Without enough protein, the body breaks down muscles for energy. Because of this people often lose muscle when they want to be losing fat. Muscle burns calories even when you’re at rest, so in the end, losing muscle sabotages the weight-loss process. Ultra Lite teaches you a protein sparing modified diet designed to help promote the loss of fat while protecting muscle.
The Ultra Lite meal plan, combined with the Ultra Lite supplements, provides the protein necessary to protect the body’s muscle, and the optimum macro nutrient balance to promote the burning of fat and suppress hunger. The plan also comes with testing supplies that allow you to know whether or not your body is in a fat burning mode. a simple 15 second test is performed every morning, at home, and will verify that you are burning fat.
What makes Ultra Lite different from other weight loss programs?
One key difference between Ultra Lite and other weight loss programs is that the entire program is supervised by a doctor. Dr. Alan Terlinsky is a bariatrician (weight loss specialist). He is also a specialist in nephrology, hypertension and integrative medicine. When you begin you will receive a full physical, and you will have the benefit of his expert supervision throughout the program.
Another important difference is the macro nutrient balance of the Ultra Lite meal plan. As you replace other sources of calories with increased amount of protein, the body switches to burning its fat stores. This results in a mild change in the body’s chemistry that results in a suppression of the sensation of hunger. Most people on the Ultra Lite Program report not feeling hungry despite their reduced caloric intake. Patients also regularly report a feeling of increased energy.
Will I have to buy special food?
On this program you will be eating regular, healthy food. One of the goals of the Ultra Lite System is to help you learn the basics of a healthy, weight-loss promoting diet with three meals a day. You will also have the benefit of meeting with a nutrition professional once a week during the program. They will help deepen your understanding of the basics of nutrition and maintenance of your weight loss.
How long is the program?
The initial program lasts for five weeks. During this program, patients have an average weight loss of 22 pounds. You can see that this short program really packs a punch! At the end of the program, during your last meeting with Dr. Terlinsky and discuss whether or not you have met your goals and how you would like to proceed.
Will I Have To Exercise?
Regular exercise is an important part of any weight loss program. Exercise builds muscle and burns calories. The Ultra Lite Weight and Health Management System asks that you walk a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Included in these thirty minutes of exercise are any walking that you do as part of your regular daily routine. Your level of physical activity is up to you, but increased physical activity will enhance the benefits of the program.
